Biography

Beverley originally trained as a dancer but soon turned her concentration to singing and went on to graduate with a B Mus Honours Degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where she studied with Theresa Goble.

Presently based in Switzerland, Beverley is known for playing the role of Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera at the Musical Theater Basel. Previously to this she performed the same role on many occasions at Her Majesty’s Theatre London.

Her extensive musical theatre roles include Rose Vibert in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love, for which she received much critical acclaim, Mable in Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan alongside Paul Nicholas in a twelve-month national tour of the Broadway version of the show and Joanna in Sweeney Todd for Derby Playhouse and Jesse in Kurt Weill's Mahagonny Songspiel at the Tonhalle Zurich.

Her opera credits include Despina in Così Fan Tutte (Luzern, Dir. Andrew Dunscombe), Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld (Zürich), Valencienne in The Merry Widow and Papagena/Pamina in Die Zauberflöte for Opera Omnibus, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, and the title role in Patience (Battersea). In 1994 she sang the role of Cameriera in Thoma’ Ligeia, directed by Luca Ronconi and conducted by Gianluca Taverna at the Contemporary Music festival in Spoleto.

Other musical roles include Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, Julie Jordan in Carousel and Millie in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers for Bruce James Productions, Alice Fitzwarren in Dick Whittington at The Grand Theatre Blackpool, Crissy in Hair, Laurie in Oklahoma and Ellie in Show Boat

As a concert soloist Beverely has sung numerous Oratorios including Mozart Requiem (Worcester Cathedral), Haydn Theresien Mass (Peterborough) and Handel’s Messiah (Southampton, con. David Gibson).

Beverley Worboys has also released a CD entitled Her Call including some of the most beautiful Irish and Scottish Celtic songs.
